Why Zeus & Hades is My Favorite Slot on House of Fun

Let me start by saying that while I generally like House of Fun there are lots of things I don’t care for, either.

All the little extras they try to squeeze on the side of the slots plus the pop ups for those extra features that hide part of the reels while you are playing drive…me…CRAZY.

But, if I’m going to play it I’m going straight to Zeus & Hades first. It’s my favorite slot for one reason – the free spin bonuses.

The layout is 4 rows by 6 columns and the symbols range from your standard 9-K plus a Pegasus, a Phoenix, a fiery red stallion (that I’m sure has some specific Greek name), and an eagle.

The Zeus and Hades symbols are wild and are always four rows tall although the entire symbol might not land on the screen so you are likely to see just partial views of them at a time.

When you do get the bulk of them on the screen, though, you can hit big.

When you get at least two consecutive wilds starting from the first column you get free spins.

More consecutive wilds means more spins and you can get up to 100 of them if you have a wild in every column (which I’ve seen multiple times).

You can also retrigger inside the bonus and since you only need two wilds starting from the first column it’s easier to do this than on some other slots.

Add in a randomly hitting major and minor jackpot that ranges in the hundreds of millions of coins and you have the recipe for longer-lasting play.

I’m always keenly aware of the features in a particular social casino slot that work in your favor.

I figure if you can hit free spins with just two symbols instead of needing five I think that makes a difference.

Of course, I am sure there’s way more that goes into the algorithm behind the scenes but if I’m faced with a decision between two games I don’t know and one lands a bonus with only two symbols and the other needs more I’m probably going to pick the first one.

I do prefer those that can trigger a bonus when the symbols land anywhere rather than requiring they land consecutively but, still, doing so with two sounds easier than those that might require three or more.

Because I do like numbers, though, I did a little experiment.

I completed 1500 spins and tracked how many times I landed the bonus and how many times I retriggered in the bonus.

Here are the results:

  • Landed a bonus 27 times out of 1500 spins (1.8%)
  • 22 of the 27 bonuses were for 5 spins (81.5%)
  • 5 of the bonuses were for 10 spins (18.5%)
  • Retriggered 6 times (4 times for 5 spins and 2 times for 10 spins)

In total I had 200 free spins and kept my bet at 100,000 coins.

I started with 108,739,749 in coins and ended with 118,200,749.

(I leveled up once or twice in that session which added some coins but I still came out way ahead.)

I did have some dry spells, though.

There was one stretch of 408 spins without a single bonus. That was later made up for when I had the bonus 11 times within 200 spins.

That’s how it goes, right? It is all driven by some random generator.

Which means this little data sample may be absolutely meaningless but it did give me some ideas for things I could track and report on going forward. (More on that another time.)

Let me know if you’ve given this House of Fun slot a try.
